SMART RHESINs—Superparamagnetic Magnetite Architecture Made of Phenolic Resin Hollow Spheres Coated with Eu(III) Containing Silica Nanoparticles for Future Quantitative Magnetic Particle Imaging Applications (Small 38/2023)

نویسندگان

چکیده

Hollow Nanospheres SMART RHESINs are novel iron oxide-filled hollow nanospheres coated with luminescent Eu(III) complex-containing silica nanoparticles. Unlike typical core/shell nanoparticles, retain unchanged effective Brownian and Néel relaxation even when fully immobilised in a viscous media. This unique behaviour makes potential quantitative magnetic particle imaging (MPI) probes for biological applications. More details can be found article number 2301997 by Esther S. Rösch co-workers.

Silica-coated magnetite nanoparticles core-shell spheres (Fe3O4@SiO2) for natural organic matter removal

BACKGROUND In this work, the magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles (MNPs) and silica-coated magnetite nanoparticles (SMNPs) were synthesized as adsorbents for removing humic acid (HA) from water resources. METHODS The adsorption processes were performed in batch experiments with which the influence of pH, reaction time, adsorbent dosage, initial concentrations of HA and temperature were investigate...

Optimizing magnetite nanoparticles for mass sensitivity in magnetic particle imaging.

PURPOSE Magnetic particle imaging (MPI), using magnetite nanoparticles (MNPs) as tracer material, shows great promise as a platform for fast tomographic imaging. To date, the magnetic properties of MNPs used in imaging have not been optimized. As nanoparticle magnetism shows strong size dependence, the authors explore how varying MNP size impacts imaging performance in order to determine optima...

Core-shell nanoparticles for medical applications: effects of surfactant concentration on the characteristics and magnetic properties of magnetite-silica nanoparticles

Objective(s): The use of cationic surface-active agents (surfactant) in the synthesis of nanoparticles, with formation of micelle, can act as a template for the formation of meso-porous silica. Changes in the concentration of surfactants can affect the structures and properties of the resulting nanoparticles.Materials and Methods: Magnetite nanoparticles were prepared as cores using the c...

Synthesis of Silica Coated Magnetic Nanoparticles

In this research controlled coating of magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles with SiO2 was investigated. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles were synthesized via chemical co-precipitation and then coated by silica according to Stober method. Effects of tetra ethyl ortho silicate (TEOS) concentration and ethanol to TEOS on the coating thickness were inves...

Enhanced targeted MRI contrast using silica coated magnetite nanoparticles

Introduction MRI is a high spatial resolution non-invasive technique but it has low specificity for targeting explicit pathologies. In an effort to improve specificity, MRI contrast agents with strong paramagnetic properties such as Gadolinium have been developed. However recent reports of suspected deaths associated with gadolinium administration have severely limited their use [1-2]. Iron oxi...
